Andre Greipel is a phenomenon: Who else can pride himself with being a consistent pro, the ultimate winner ( 156 victories ), and – still possess the hunger and motivation to keep on racing?
“Look, it’s simple,” he said when we asked him last night what will be his ultimate goal this season: “ I just want to continue being a pro athlete and enjoy it. The rest will follow”.
And happy and rejuvenated he is. Just witnessing him putting on his new kit for a photo shoot with our team Photographer in the end of another long day in the saddle during our training camp. Like a kid again in his first pro season. ( you got to go way back to 2005 fro that.. )
His preparations for 2021 were a bit different than usual as 2020 ended later than expected due to the Corona crisis: “ For the first time , I took 4 weeks off away from the bike, spent the time with the family. I needed that physically and mentally and it was great “.
Corona still with us, unfortunately, and it already derailed his first races – the Majorca challenge. But he is looking with hope to the end of winter Belgian classics as where he should go into action in top shape. “ With Sep Vanmarcke joining us, we should be in good shape and I am looking forward to be ready to go”. .
