Israel – Premier Tech took its second podium place this Thursday as Corbin Strong sprinted to third place on stage 4 of Volta a Catalunya.

“I’m really happy with today. The boys did an awesome job”, Strong said after the line.

After being attentive at the beginning of the stage, making sure no dangerous groups would get away without being represented, the IPT riders rallied around team leader Michael Woods and Strong to make sure the young Kiwi would get a chance to sprint for the win.

Daryl Impey took the front of the peloton on the last few kilometers with Guilluame Boivin and Strong in his wheel. On the final stretch, Boivin performed a great leadout for Strong who launched his sprint with about 150m to go. Ultimately, Kaden Groves took the victory, while Strong had to settle for third.

“There were a few corners in the final but the boys rode awesomely. G [Boivin] did a really good leadout for me at the end but unfortunately, I didn’t have the legs to finish it off. However, I’m still really happy with third”, Strong explained.

In the general classification, Woods moved up one spot so he’s now sixth overall before Friday’s steep mountain top finish.
