Patrick Bevin and Israel – Premier Tech hunted for time gaps in the peloton on stage 6 of the Tour Turkey, but after sublime execution of the original plan, they didn’t quite get what they hoped for.
The Kiwi finished fourth, which meant no bonus seconds, and his competitors did not drop on the final climb either.
Bevin said that the execution of the plan was good, that his teammates was right there when he needed them, and realized the three riders on the podium are simply better sprinters. “The climb was just not steep enough to drop the sprinters.”
Sports director Nicki Sørensen was happy with the way the team rode together and is sure that teamwork like this will pay off. “There are two more interesting stages and we have got riders that can make the difference.”
It was the team’s second fourth place in Turkey.
Guy Niv did not start. He is sick and is going home.
