Bugesera Women’s Cycling Team riders Aline Uwera, Claudine Tuyishimire, and Domina Ingabire have been selected to represent Rwanda during the African Continental Road Championships.

The Rwandan Federation selected the three cyclists for the race in Egypt, which will be the biggest challenge yet in their careers.

A little more than one year ago, Israel – Premier Tech started supporting the Bugesera Cycling Team as part of the Racing for Change project. Two months ago, Uwera won her first race.

After her first victory, Uwera said one of her two dreams became reality. The other dream was representing her country in races abroad. That dream becomes a reality now, as the African Road Championships will be the women’s first race outside Rwanda.

The selection of the three cyclists for the Rwandan national team is another highlight of the project. Seeing this rapid progress gives the team a deep sense of pride.

The African Road Championships this year will be held in Cairo, Egypt, from the 22nd of March. The individual time trial for juniors is listed for the 24th of March, and the road race will be on the 26th.
