Newly-crowned national road race champion Mike Woods and Derek Gee will represent Canada at this summer’s Olympic Games, becoming the latest Israel – Premier Tech riders confirmed for the Paris road race.

The pair will line up alongside teammates Stevie Williams (Great Britain), Corbin Strong (New Zealand), and Itamar Einhorn, who will end Israel’s 64-year absence from the men’s event when he takes the start on Saturday August 3. Additionally, Ethan Vernon (GBR) and Canadian IPT Academy duo Dylan Bibic and Carson Mattern have been selected for their respective track teams.

Today’s announcement comes days after Gee was selected for his debut Tour de France and Woods claimed the Canadian road title for the first time in his illustrious career.

“I’m unbelievably excited to represent Canada for my second Olympic Games in Paris this summer,” says Gee. “Tokyo 2020 was an experience of a lifetime and was a real privilege to race with the maple leaf on my back on the world’s biggest stage. Having spent some time in France already this year and seeing the build up, I can’t wait to experience the atmosphere in Paris this summer. I think it’s truly going to be unparalleled, especially at the cycling events.”
