When you have a sprint-focused team, some Grand Tour days are just about suffering and survival. @giroditalia stage 14 was that to a tee.
There are plenty of suffer faces in our gallery today (apart from @jenthe_biermans who managed a smile and a 👋), on a day where the race exploded early and the GC battle dominated the stage. Another stage crossed off the list.

News: @giacomonizzolo will not start stage 14 of the @giroditalia
Giacomo has not been feeling 100% in the second week of the race and has lacked his normal level of power which has been particularly apparent in the sprint stages. In consultation with Giacomo, the decision has been made to withdraw him from the race to identify any underlying problems and prioritize his recovery ahead of the second half of the season.
“I’m disappointed to leave the Giro D’Italia as it’s one of my favorite races and I came here with a lot of motivation to win. I started the race well and felt good in the first week but in the past week, I have lacked my normal power and just haven’t had the legs I would normally have. The guys have worked really hard for me so I want to thank them for everything and also the staff and, of course, RCS. I really hope the team can finish the race off with a good result next week,” said Nizzolo.
IPT will monitor Nizzolo’s recovery and determine his future program accordingly.

@giacomonizzolo sprints to eighth in nail-biting finish in Cuneo 🇮🇹
The breakaway vs peloton battle was raging today and IPT was front and center in the chase, working hard to neutralize the leading quartet’s six-minute advantage. The catch was made inside the final kilometer with Nizzolo sprinting to a top-ten finish.
“Eighth place was the maximum I could do today. I just didn’t have the legs for more than that. I can’t say I am happy with the result but I was up there and was in position and I just couldn’t do more. A big thank you to the guys for their work today.”
A hot, hard, and hectic stage. The photos say it all today.

The future of Canadian cycling looks bright! We are happy to announce that Canadian up-and-comer Derek Gee will turn pro with IPT on a three-year deal.
“Hopefully I can keep improving my time trial and over the next three years get some big results on the TT bike.” @derekgee97

The battle for the breakaway 🧨
@giroditalia stage 12 is in the books. The first hour of racing was full gas and we saw plenty of IPT jerseys in the thick of the action, especially from birthday boy @alessandro_demarchi. Despite plenty of attempts, it wasn’t meant to be for us in the breakaway.
Tomorrow, we sprint again before gearing up for a tough weekend of climbing.

Tanti Auguri @alessandro_demarchi!
Join us in wishing Alessandro De Marchi a great birthday. What better way to spend it than at the @giroditalia 😉
The @giroditalia starts now for @alessandro_demarchi 👊
There’s nothing we love to see more than seeing Alessandro at the front of the race, on the attack. Re-live his day in the breakaway on #Giro stage 10.

Attack mode 👊
“Today was probably the best day of my season until now, when I could really go deep and find my old feelings.”
@alessandro_demarchi in the breakaway isn’t something new but at this @giroditalia, his stage 10 breakaway and late solo attack marked the “start” of his Giro. The Italian is finding his legs day by day and we have a feeling we’ll be seeing him at the front of the race again!
